Do you remember Kacie Roseboro from the first time we mentioned her in a style watch post? Of course you do, she’s the girl always dressing fierce hair to heels (usually with something she’s made herself) who spends most of her time attached to a sewing machine, putting in long hours to complete her senior collection. Her pieces are coming along fabulously, as you can see in the sketches below.

Awe-provoking and dreamy boho silhouettes, prints inspired by underwater life, feathers, turtle shell purses, handmade jewelry, and of course, a pair of Litas make up the wild collection of creativity known as “Currents Texture”. Inspired by the mysterious blue ocean and the 1970′s.

Each piece tells a story and stands out on its own while still syncing with the rest of the garments. Here’s sketches from Kacie’s senior collection.

MEET STUDENT STYLIST: SABRINA TAYLOR

If Carrie Bradshaw (before Sex and the City) and the young Stevie Nicks had a fashion baby, Sabrina Taylor would be her. Not a good enough visual for you? The pictures here (taken by the lovely Mikola Accuardi) give you a pretty clear idea of Sabrina’s part boho, part punk/goth, part sweet & chic aesthetic. She finds the majority of her clothes at her work, Buffalo Exchange, but also snoops around for gems at local thrift stores, vintage shops, and Portland-native boutiques. “Knowing that I found it and (for the most part) no one else has it is so special to me!” she says.

What Sabrina generally gravitates towards when dressing for the day is a major pair of shoes, bell bottoms, a vintage Iggy Pop tee, and a set of hands stacked with rings and bracelets. Obviously, a great deal of credit for Sabrina’s fabulous style goes to her killer shoes. Can we please get a close up on those? This girl admits to her shoe addiction and believes many girls would concur. It’s clear she is drawn to anything with it’s own personality.

“I like to wear things I don’t see others wearing.” Hows that for a style? Nowadays, many play it safe by following trends. Sabrina doesn’t need trends to define what she’s going to wear. It’s more about what “speaks” to her, and what’s going to differentiate her from everyone else.

Designers such as Patricia Fields, Emilio Pucci, Albino and Ann Demeulemeester inspire a lot of Sabrina’s style. She is an incredibly creative girl and her passion for fashion is evident. Styling photo shoots is her favorite part of working towards a fashion marketing degree at The Art Institute of Portland. She claims there’s nothing like working and creating with people who are just as passionate about art and fashion as she is. Can you dig it?

Laura is a child of the 90′s and it shines through her wardrobe. You’ll always catch her wearing lots of layers. Being a Portland native, preparation for crazy rain fests and cold, windy days are habitual for her. Some form of leather or denim is her typical outfit staple, including her most prized possession– a leather jacket she received as a graduation gift. “You can catch me attempting to wear that thing on a hot summers day, I love it so much!” she says.

Her clothes are a combination of dark shades and a pop of bright color with a heavy street-wear influence. To get her looks, Laura frequents shops on Hawthorne and conveniently works at Sloan Boutique on 35th. She also shops at Buffalo Exchange, Urban Outfitters and loves brands like Oscar De La Renta, ASOS, MonoB, Lush, and old vintage pieces.

Laura’s family is from the east coast. She also got to spend more time than most in New York City this summer working as an intern for Reed Krakoff’s Coach handbag line. She said: “Ever since I was about 10, I wanted to go to New York and work in the center of the fashion world. Fascination is the word that I believe could describe how I felt at that moment.” Laura plans to return to NYC again this summer to pursue what she loves.

With passion in her eyes and stylish shoes on her feet, it will be exciting to see what’s in Laura’s future in the fashion industry.

According to Pantone, the color of 2012 is Tangerine Tango. It’s a vibrant, orange-ish red that is sure to add the perfect amount of sass to any outfit. After scouring lookbook for worldwide inspiration, I thought it’d be fun to pull some examples of garments you can find right here in Portland with this color! MEET STUDENT STYLIST: MARTINE

Martine is always on the go and always looks amazing. She’s constantly wearing a smile and carrying a powerfully positive energy along with her. Her style is a combination of classical silhouettes, comfortable and cozy pieces, earthy tones, and a hint of sass. As a shopper, Martine tends to work in themes. “Sometimes it’s boots, sometimes floral, a certain color.” And right now, she’s loving sequins and metallics for the holidays. She’s also seriously digging (and seriously rocking, I might add) the come back of the uber-wide-leg pant. When it comes to personal styling, Martine’s advice is to “Just have fun! Don’t lose sight of who you are trying to impress someone else. When you are yourself, you’ve got nothing to lose.” Martine is an avid local shopper, specifically at Yo Vintage, and like a true stylist, her Christmas list consists of a new rolling rack and steamer (preach, sista.) But hey, lets cross our fingers that she gets something sparkly, too!
